“I have loved to sing all my life, from being a tiny girl singing round the piano while my Dad played. As I got older, I noticed that I always felt better after a good old sing song. I was watching one of the Gareth Malone choir programmes when the thought came that I should join a choir. I retired from work a few months later and one of the first things I did was to find a community choir to join.  I didn’t want anything too serious and just wanted to enjoy myself, Singing Aloud seemed to fit the bill.

I joined in February 2010 and the first song I learnt was Wild Mountain Thyme. From the very first time, I knew I loved it, I loved the singing and the people and, best of all, I felt so in tune with our leader, Ruth. Her style of teaching us the new songs suits me very well and it is easy to see that Ruth loves singing and loves to teach it. Most of all I think, she loves to hear us when we are singing well – you can see it in her face! I come home each Tuesday evening, feeling inspired, uplifted and with songs filling my whole being.”
