“I have been singing with the Royston choir for a year and really enjoy Ruth’s friendly, informal and relaxed approach to singing.   We seem to get a great deal done and sing a wide variety of songs without really noticing the hard work we are putting in – come along and give it a try!”

“I have loved to sing all my life, from being a tiny girl singing round the piano while my Dad played. As I got older, I noticed that I always felt better after a good old sing song. I was watching one of the Gareth Malone choir programmes when the thought came that I should join a choir. I retired from work a few months later and one of the first things I did was to find a community choir to join.  I didn’t want anything too serious and just wanted to enjoy myself, Singing Aloud seemed to fit the bill.

I joined in February 2010 and the first song I learnt was Wild Mountain Thyme. From the very first time, I knew I loved it, I loved the singing and the people and, best of all, I felt so in tune with our leader, Ruth. Her style of teaching us the new songs suits me very well and it is easy to see that Ruth loves singing and loves to teach it. Most of all I think, she loves to hear us when we are singing well – you can see it in her face! I come home each Tuesday evening, feeling inspired, uplifted and with songs filling my whole being.”

“Singing aloud is great fun. Ruth is warm and welcoming to all. The group is friendly and relaxed which makes an enjoyable space to sing particularly if , like me , you’re not a particularly confidant  singer.  I always laugh as well as sing on a Tuesday which is great.”

“I can’t speak highly enough of Singing Aloud. The group is so warm and welcoming and the songs we sing are lovely. It’s the highlight of my week!”

“Like many people I find it tricky to fit all the things I want to do in limited spare time – but since my first tentative visit to Singing Aloud in Royston it rapidly became one of the highlights of my week. The songs are varied and fun, the company is warm and friendly and Ruth is an enthusiastic and encouraging teacher.”

We all look forward to our Monday night sing. Ruth creates an atmosphere of fun, friendship and enjoyment whilst at the same time teaching us 4-part harmony songs that sound brilliant.  The music is varied, the group is mixed and it all works wonderfully.

I always look forward to Monday evenings.  Singing Aloud with Ruth is great fun and it chases the blues away.

A fun and friendly group, Singing Aloud is for everyone. There is no pressure to be of a certain standard and the song choices are varied and easy to learn. Ruth’s enthusiasm means that each session is lively and upbeat. Each week is different and recent activities such as our first song recording and public performances have been fun and rewarding.
